Geo-Fences

What are Geo-Fences?

Geo-Fences are virtual perimeters around a fixed location. The default setting in Freight Portal is set to a radius of 1 mile in diameter for any origin, intermediary, and destination assigned stops. Admin users who have access to the preference page can easily adjust this organization-wide setting in the Preferences tab within Freight Portal.

Custom location-specific geofences can also be created under the "Locations" area of the Visibility application. There is an article explaining this area as well inside this guide.

How do Geo-Fences effect Shipment Status?

Origin Status Changed by Geo Triggers

  1. When a driver enters the geo-fence radius at the origin, the shipment status will update to At Shipper.
  2. As the driver exits the geo-fence radius from the origin, the shipment status will update to In Transit.
    1. The In-Transit status will be assigned through the entire length of the haul until the driver gets to the final destination.

Destination Status Changed by Geo Triggers

  1. When the driver enters the geo-fence radius at the destination, the status will update to At Consignee.
  2. As the driver exits the geo-fence radius from the destination, the shipment status will set the shipment to Delivered.
    1. This status also indicates the shipment is Complete.
