System ETA

Overview

ETA Calculations are driven in collaboration with Trimble Maps alongside propriety Trimble Visibility algorithm services. The "System ETA" is an approximate date-time that is calculated using these two services to determine when the driver should arrive to the stops along the route. Trimble Maps & Trimble Visibility take into account a multitude of current and historical data to inform the ETA.

ETA is calculated per route segment, using the shipment’s current location to the next stop, and then from that stop to the next stop after that, and so on. If the shipping only has an origin and destination, then the same logic is used. The calculation is proprietary; however, the following factors are used in establishing the final ETA.

The ETA calculation incorporates the following high level elements:
  • The driver’s current location based on last position event received to the next stop
  • Dwell time at Origin, Intermediary stops, and final Destination
  • Account for refueling time
  • Weather patterns
  • Current road speeds, distance matrix, and live traffic
